A few FAQs…

Q: I missed the March 14 date. Am I too late?

A: No, it isn’t too late to register and participate in the first annual Beyond in BC half marathon training program! The deadline is April 22. Head over to the Registration & Races tab to find the links for registration.

Q: I’m a new runner and I don’t know anyone. Will I be judged?

A: I think you’ll find the running community in Battle Creek to be very friendly and supportive, regardless of your current ability and goals! The directors, team leaders, and participants for KAR programs (like the Beyond in BC program) wholeheartedly believe in KAR’s mission: “dedicated to the promotion of running as a source of physical, spiritual and social wellness while enhancing the quality of life in our community.”

Q: May I bring my spouse/friend/coworker/mom/sister/brother/uncle/dad/son…?

A: Yes! Walk-in participation is allowed, for a small fee of $5 for KAR members or $10 for non-KAR members. The fee covers support and sag while runners are on the course, as well as insurance.

Q: What about strollers or dogs?

A: Neither strollers nor dogs are strictly prohibited. However, both are discouraged for large group runs as a safety measure. In all cases, dogs must be trained on a leash and well controlled around people and traffic. Regarding strollers, some routes may be stroller friendly (wide bike path, etc) while others may not be as safe (no shoulder, no sidewalk, etc). In addition, our routes are out & back runs, so single file will be required anywhere it gets conjested. In addition, stroller runners may need to depart in a later wave than others.

Keep your questions, feedback, and input coming! We’re committed to bringing the best of the best to our running community in Battle Creek!

Happy Running!
Stacey
